About Kaltura

What is Kaltura?

Kaltura enables teachers, students, and administrators to easily record, upload, manage, clip, transcode, publish, and deliver high-quality video content to any device.

General information

All common video, audio and image formats in all resolutions are accepted. For best results with video, Kaltura recommends preparing videos in 1280x720 pixels and using the H.264 video codec at about 4000 kb/s.

Log in at https://video.kent.edu/user/login. Click on Login and then Login. A Kent State University Sign in screen will appear—log in using your FlashLine user name and password and click Sign In.

Click Flashline Login, then select Login from the dropdown.

By clicking on Add New, you get the following options:

By clicking on your name (USER’S NAME), you can access your media, playlists and channels or Logout.

Settings

When creating a video, you must name it and should provide a brief description of the video content. Add tags so your video will be easy to find when searched. This can be completed while the video is still uploading. The permissions are explained below:

  • Private – the media page will be visible to the content owner only
  • Unlisted – the media page will be visible to anyone with the link to the video
  • Published – the media page will be visible to individuals according to entitlements on published destinations.

By clicking on Actions from the My Media page, you get the following options:
