How do I set up my Amazon Kindle Fire for Kent State Gmail?

Use the following steps to setup your Kent State Gmail (primary for students and part-time faculty/staff) on your Kindle Fire.

Please note that Kindle Fire does not currently support Exchange email for faculty/staff.  Applications such as Outlook Mobile are available in the Amazon AppStore for Android.

1.  Enable IMAP on the Kent State Gmail web site:

a. Sign in to Kent State Gmail through FlashLine.
b. Click the gear icon in the upper-right and select Gmail settings at the top of any Gmail page.
c. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
d. Select Enable IMAP and then Save Changes

Follow the instructions on this page. Use the following configuration settings for IMAP and SMTP: 

2.  Tap Apps from the Home screen and tap the Email app icon.

3.  Select Gmail as the Email Provider from the list.   (if you've already added an email account, tap the Menu icon at the bottom of the screen and then "Add Account" to add your KSU email as an additional account).

4.  Enter your full Kent State email address (including the and FlashLine password under the Gmail Setup screen.

5.  Choose IMAP as the Account Type

6.  At the next screen, you'll need to change these settings:
     a.  Username: Your full email address
     b.  IMAP server:<>
     c.  Security type: SSL (always)
     d.  Port 993

7.  Tap to go to the Outgoing Server settings screen and fix the following settings:
     a.  SMTP server: should be<>
     b.  Security type: should be SSL (always)
     c.  Port 465
     d.  Authentication Type:  AUTOMATIC

8.  Once you've completed these settings, you'll be able to access your Kent State Gmail from your Kindle Fire.
