Saving Word Documents as a PDF

It is recommended that information and files in Blackboard Learn be posted as a PDF rather than a Word document because:  

  • They load faster  

  • They use less space  

  • They don’t have to be downloaded  

  • They are not editable

To convert a Word doc to a PDF, follow these steps:  

  • In Word, click File->Save As  

  • Choose the location on the computer to save the file  

  • Click the down arrow at Save as Type and select PDF  

  • Click Save

Save as type option is selected and PDF is highlighted

To update a PDF:  

  • Access the original Word document  

  • Make appropriate changes  

  • Save As the same PDF to overwrite  

  • Click Save  

  • Upload updated PDF file to the Blackboard Learn course
