Per the installation instructions in the Software Catalog, once you have the FortiClient VPN downloaded on your Mac or Windows computer, all you will need to do is login with your username and password and you will be connected. You should not need to enter the connection name, remote gateway, or port number. However, if that info is not automatically populated, edit the connection settings and enter the following info:

  • Connection Name: KSU-VPN
  • Description: KSU-VPN
  • Remote Gateway: ksu.vpn.kent.edu
  • Port: 443

Looking for Library Resources?

The FortiClient VPN:

  • Will NOT provide access to library resources. This is a change from the Cisco Anyconnect VPN. Library resources should be accessed using the KSU Proxy.
    • If you are following web links from other resources such as Blackboard, course syllabi, or personal bookmarks, please check the URL and verify the link begins with the KSU Proxy Prefix:  https://proxy.library.kent.edu/login?url=
    • For more information on this, please visit the KSU Proxy article under the section "Having trouble accessing KSU Proxy from off Campus?"
