When trying to open a PDF file in AppXtender, I get the following error message: “Error returned when rendering, task ID: series of numbers and letters. Error code: -108. Error message: Save image file failed..”

When you are trying to view a (PDF) document in AppXtender and you get the following error message: "Error returned when rendering, task ID: series of numbers and letters. Error code: -108. Error message: Save image file failed.."

It means that AppXtender is having issues displaying a PDF file. Please try this workaround: Click on the down arrow next to your username and select 'User Settings'

Under 'User Settings', expand 'Document View', and click the check mark next to "Use Browser to Display PDF Files" to turn this feature on (if it is not already checked), then click the 'SAVE' button

Once you make this adjustment, you should no longer see that error message.

If you do not see 'User Settings' under your username, then please submit a ticket and ask for 'User Settings' access by doing the following:

  1. Go to www.kent.edu/it
  2. Click on "Support Requests"
  3. Click on "Enterprise Applications"
  4. Click on "Submit a Ticket for Assistance with Enterprise Applications"
  5. Click on "Submit a Ticket"
  6. Fill out your information, then under "What do you need help with?", select "Banner Document Imaging (Xtender)"
  7. Please put in the application name (such as ‘B-F-DOCS-KENT’) and the error message for which you need assistance under the "Description" section and be sure to ask for 'User Settings' access
  8. Please attach a screenshot to fully describe the error; so please do that under "Attachment"
