Sharepoint New Site Owner Guide

Welcome to SharePoint Online.  You will soon be able to communicate with your workgroup or committee via a SharePoint web site, which provides group members a private, secure place to share documents and announcements, hold discussions, keep a team calendar, and more.

Note: Instructions for SharePoint 2010/2013 are applicable to SharePoint Online.

Step 1.  Learn

Review the articles and tutorials below to start learning about SharePoint Online.

Explore optional features that may provide solutions to your business problems.

Obtain a practice/production site to work on.

 Step 2.  Practice

A SharePoint is easy to use and easy to modify. You’ll start with a practice site that contains common information-sharing tools. Try them to decide which tools you will provide to your site users.

Step 3.  Develop

After obtaining a production site, you will customize it for your workgroup needs, and add participants to the site. User permissions help you define exactly what participants have permission to see and do.

Step 5.  Go Live

Invite participants to begin using your new site.  Invite them to a demonstration of how the tools in your SharePoint site will support team communication.  The SharePoint Online Site User Guide provides basic instruction.
