I've just changed my FlashLine password. What steps should I take now?

It is extremely important that you complete these steps any time you change your FlashLine Password. Failure to do so could prevent you from accessing your computer or Internet connection.

If you are using Windows 7 and are having problems logging into Outlook, click here for instructions.

IMPORTANT NOTE: After you change your password, you will need to update the cached password on mobile devices like cell phones and tablets that are used to connect to the Kent State Wireless network as well as to connect to E-mail. Click here for instructions for updating your email password on your mobile device.

Please read through the instructions carefully. If you feel uncomfortable performing any step, are off campus, or experience other issues that are not covered in this article, please call your local support person (faculty/staff only) or the Helpdesk at 330.672.HELP (4357) for assistance. Select the instructions based on your location and computer:

On Campus - changing your password on campus with:

University-Owned Computers

Windows: Please complete the following steps immediately after changing your password:

  1. Log out of Windows from the Start menu. Do not shut down.
  2. Log back into Windows using your new password
  3. Use your new password for any password prompts you receive in the future where you would use your FlashLine username and password.

Mac: Please complete the following steps immediately after changing your password:

  1. Quit all programs that you are currently running by selecting ‘Quit’ from each program’s menu.??????
  2. Use your new password for any password prompts you receive in the future where you would use your FlashLine username and password.
  3. (Optional) Only If you experience problems with Kent State Wireless, we would recommend that you reconfigure your wireless connection - instructions.

Personally-Owned Computers:

Windows: Please complete the following steps immediately after changing your password:

  1. Use your new password for any password prompts you receive in the future where you would use your FlashLine username and password.
  2. (Optional) Only If you experience problems with Kent State wireless, we would recommend that you reconfigure your wireless connection.

Mac: Please complete the following steps immediately after changing your password:

  1. Use your new password for any password prompts you receive in the future where you would use your FlashLine username and password.
  2. (Optional) Only If you experience problems with Kent State wireless, we would recommend that you reconfigure your wireless connection.

 

Off-Campus - If you’re changing your password from off campus:

University-Owned computers:

Windows: Please complete the following steps immediately after changing your password:

  1. Note that you may need to use your OLD FlashLine password to log into Windows until you come back to campus.
  2. Use your new password for any password prompts you receive in the future where you would use your FlashLine username and password.

Mac: Please complete the following steps immediately after changing your password:

  1. Use your new password for any password prompts you receive in the future where you would use your FlashLine username and password.
  2. (Optional) Only If you experience problems with Kent State Wireless, we would recommend that you reconfigure your wireless connection. Do not run this until you return to campus.
