Configuring Outlook (Windows) for Kent State Gmail (Students & part-time faculty)

Make sure you've enabled IMAP in your main Gmail settings as well as having allowed Less Secure Apps in your account.

1.  Launch Microsoft Outlook

If this is the first time you've launched Outlook, you will receive a message asking if you'd like to set up a New Account.  Click Next.

If you've already set up an account in Outlook, go to the File menu

In the toolbar and under "Info" choose Add Account.

3. At the Internet Email Settings screen, enter the following information:
Auto Account Setup screen
a.  Your Name:  Your First and Last Name
b.  E-mail Address:  Your full email address
c.  Account Type:  IMAP
d.  Incoming Mail Server:
e.  Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
f.   User Name: Your full email address
g.  Password:  Your FlashLine password

4.  Click More Settings.
At the More Settings screen, click the Advanced tab and enter the following information:
a.  Incoming server (IMAP):  993
b.  Use the following type of encrypted connection:  SSL
c.  Outgoing server (SMTP) 465
d.  Use the following type of encrypted connection:  SSL

Click the Outgoing Server tab and select the following:
a.  Check the box beside "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication"
b.  Ensure that "Use same settings as my incoming server" is selected

Click OK to exit the Internet E-mail Settings window.

5.  You may now click Next to continue setting up your account.  Outlook will test your settings and the test should pass.  Click Close to exit the test.  You'll see a Congratulations message.  Click Finish and Close to begin using your Kent State Gmail in Outlook.
